FAQs
How do I pay with my HSA or FSA card?

To use your HSA or FSA debit card, add products from this page to your cart as usual. At checkout, select “Flex | Pay with HSA/FSA” as your payment option, enter your HSA or FSA debit card, and complete your checkout as usual. Some products may require you to fill out a questionnaire at checkout to determine your elligibility.

Why do I need to fill out a health questionnaire at checkout?

Some of our products are considered "dual use" – which means that the IRS requires you to have a Letter of Medical Necessity (LoMN) in order to qualify to use your HSA or FSA card. Buoy has partnered with Flex to enable asynchronous telehealth visits as part of our checkout to enable elligible customers to checkout instantly with their HSA/FSA card. Within 24 hours of your purchase, Flex will email you both an itemized receipt.

What is a Letter of Medical Necessity (LoMN)?

A letter is essentially a note from a doctor stating that you are purchasing an item to treat or manage a medical condition.

Why can't I see Flex as a payment method?

The key here is to make sure you are logged out of ShopPay. One of the easiest ways to do this is to go through checkout in an incognito window.

What if I don't have my HSA/FSA card available?

If you don’t have your HSA or FSA card handy, still select “Flex | Pay with HSA/FSA” as your payment method. Enter your credit card information and Flex will email you an itemized receipt to submit for reimbursement.

Why is my HSA/FSA card being declined?

Your answer here.HSA/FSA cards are debit cards, and the most common reason for declines is insufficient funds. Reach out to your HSA/FSA administrator to confirm your balance.

Why do I have to purchase at least a 3 month supply?

HSA/FSA eligibility requires products to be primarily for medical purposes, and our 3-month minimum helps establish a therapeutic protocol rather than casual use.

How is Buoy different from other electrolytes?

Buoy is the first purposefully unflavored liquid electrolyte supplement optimizing for function, not flavor.

No sugar, sweeteners, flavors, or additives the others use and delivered in a new, high bioavailable form factor for easy, fast absorption.

All Buoy electrolytes provide full-spectrum hydrate with 87+ ionic trace minerals and elements commonly missing from American diets.

We publish all third party tests and invest in University-led, crossover design clinical studies.

Are Rainforest Wild Foods products eligible for HSA/FSA purchase?

Our new line of Rainforest Wild Foods are waiting HSA/FSA eligibility—we expect them to be added by next calendar year.

When should I expect to see benefits?

Buoy is clinically-proven to hydrate 64% better than water alone at just six hours.

While many customers report improved hydration and energy within the first week, deeper benefits like reduced inflammation, better mineral balance, and enhanced cellular function typically emerge over 2-4 weeks of consistent use.

Will I taste anything?

Buoy is purposefully unflavored, which means we do not hide behind the sweet and inflammatory ingredients like sugar, stevia, dextrose and "natural" flavors which most other electrolyte products include.

SUBTLE MINERAL TASTE
Electrolytes are salts, so on their own they taste very salty. Our competitors mask this saltiness by adding sugar, sweeteners, and "natural" flavors to their electrolytes. We spent 4 years in R&D figuring out how to deliver electrolytes with as neutral of a flavor profile as possible without adding those nasty ingredients. We achieved this goal, although there is still a very subtle mineral taste present because we do not use any sugar, sweeteners or flavors to cover it up. While many people don't notice a taste in most beverages, everyone's palette is different and so you may notice hints of a subtle mineral flavor.

A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY
One serving is a single, short squeeze into a full beverage. Each serving contains ⅓ of the electrolyte content of a sports drink. For those noticing a strong taste, you've likely squeezed too much into a single beverage or a half-full beverage.

Will Buoy break my fast?

Nope!

Unlike other electrolytes, Buoy will not change your metabolic state regardless of how many servings you use.

Are your B Vitamins methylated?

>Methylation is typically in reference to Vitamins B9 and B12 because of cheap, widely used and non-absorbable forms these specific vitamins. These vitamins are not used in any Buoy products.

The B Vitamins used in Buoy typically do not come in a methylated form (there is a rare B6 form floating around but is not standard or widely used).

For the vitamins used, Buoy sources the cleanest, most absorbable forms of B1, B5, and B6. Methylation is typically a term used with B vitamins that aren't in Buoy.

Do your products have caffeine?

The only product that contains caffeine is our Energy Drops, which is sourced from organic green tea.

“Drops supply calming energy and immune support.”
“Purposefully unflavored which means sugar-free, stevia, and sweetener-free.”
“Many of the 87 trace minerals in Buoy aren’t found in the conventional diet.”
“Anti-bloat liquid electrolyte drops."
“Electrolyte boost without any sweetness whatsoever.”
“Electrolyte boost you can add to coffee, tea, and even alcohol.”
